Landscape Scale Conservation: Nurcoung - A biodiverse carbon sink
Greening Australia has revegetated a 180 hectare property at Nurcoung creating a vital habitat link between the Tooan / Arapiles State Park and the Little Desert National Park. One of the many species intended to benefit from a corridor between these two parks is the endangered Malleefowl. Click here to read more....
Since the revegetation project began in 2008 regular monitoring of both plant germination, survival has been carried out by project officer Jess Gardner every Spring and Autumn. The results of this work have now been published in the latest edition of Ecological Processes Journal. It is hoped that monitoring of this kind can help to continuously improve the quality of work we achieve on the ground. http://www.ecologicalprocesses.com/content/2/1/34

Landscape Scale Conservation: bankmecu Landbank
Since 2008, bankmecu has purchased 927 hectares of land spread across
five properties situated in Victoria's west Wimmera region. This land has been
set aside to help protect remnant natural forest and restore degraded farmland.
bankmecu is Australia’s first customer owned bank. At the heart of bankmecu is a belief that strong synergies exist between social and environmental responsibility and a cooperative approach to banking. The Conservation Landbank is one way in which the bank puts this responsible approach into practice.
The Conservation Landbank allows bankmecu to offset the loss of biodiversity resulting from new homes it finances and the carbon emissions generated by cars it finances. This is done through the purchase and re-vegetation of marginal farming land. Read more about bankmecu and the Conservation Landbank on bankmecu.com.au/central and www.kowreefarmtreegroup.org.
